Indian Army Havildar Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2017
The Exam Pattern is as follows :
- The Exam will be Written Objective Type.
- The Exam will be Conducted in two papers- Paper-I Common and compulsory for all candidates, Paper-II (Science Stream) Compulsory for the Candidates of Science Stream OR Paper-II (Arts Stream) Compulsory for the Candidates of Science Stream.
Each paper will consist of 50 objective type questions.

- There will be Negative Marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
The Exam syllabus is given Below:
General Awareness : Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person.
General English : Mainly Focus on the topics like Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Error, Sentence correction, fill in the blanks, Comprehension & Cloze Test etc.
Paper-II (Science Stream)
Physics : Measurement. Motion in one Dimension. Laws of Motion. Motion in two Dimensions. Work, Power Energy. Linear Momentum & Collision. Rotation of a rigid body about a fixed axis. Gravitation. Oscillatory Motion. Mechanics of solids and fluids. Heat and Thermodynamics. Wave. Electrostatics. Current Electricity. Magnetic Effect of Current. Magnetism in Matter. Electromagnetic Induction. Ray Optics and Optical Instruments. Wave Optics. Modern Physics.
Chemistry : Atomic Structure. Chemical bonding. Redox Reactions. Chemical Equilibrium and Kinetics. Acid-Base Concepts. Electrochemistry. Catalysis. Colloids. Colligative Properties of Solution. Periodic Table. Preparation and Properties. Thermo-chemistry. General Organic Chemistry. Isomerism. IUPAC. Polymers. Carbohydrates. Solid State. Petroleum.
Computer Science : Introduction, Database Management System, PC software and Office Automation, Workplace Productivity Tools, Computer Networks, The Internet, Emerging Technologies and Web Publishing, Boolean Algebra, Data Structures.
Biology : Zoology : Origin of Life, Organic Evolution, Mechanism of Organic Evolution, Human Genetics and Eugenics, Applied Biology, Mammalian Anatomy (Eg. Rabbit), Animal Physiology. Botany : Plant Cell. Protoplasm, Ecology, Ecosystem, Genetics, Seeds in angiospermic plants, Fruits, Cell differentiation Plant Tissue, Important Phylum, Soil, Nitrogen Cycle, Photosynthesis, Transpiration, Respiration, Growth & Movement.
Mathematics : Questions will be asked from Simplification, Average, Percentage, Time & Work, Area, profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Speed, Investment, HCF LCM, Problem On Ages , Bar Graph, Pictorial Graph, Pie Chart and Data Interpretation etc.
Paper-III (Arts Stream)
History : Question will be asked from the Indian History, There Historical places and related story, Wars and their effect in India.
Geography : In this Exam the Question will be asked from the Indian Geographical importance, Its axis, Changes in Nature etc related to today’s and previous geography,
Political Science : The Question will be asked from the field of Politics, Their leaders, Time period and works of Leaders, their Contribution in Progress of India.
Economics : Basic Concept of Economics and introduction to Micro Economics Definition, scope and nature of Economics, Methods of economic study and Central problems of an economy and Production possibilities curve. Indian Economy Nature of the Indian Economy Role of different sectors-Role of Agriculture, Industry and Services-their problems and growth; National Income of India-Concepts of national income, Different methods of measuring national income
Mathematics : Questions will be asked from Simplification, Average, Percentage, Time & Work, Area, profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Speed, Investment, HCF LCM, Problem On Ages , Bar Graph, Pictorial Graph, Pie Chart and Data Interpretation etc
