About JNU UG and PG Admission 2017

JNU refers to Jawaharlal Nehru University . JNU  invites admission for the Various UG and PG programme like BBA Programme in Languages, MA (History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Philosophy,  M.Sc, MCA, M.Tech (Computational & Systems Biology), M.Phil, and Ph.D. It gives the admission to the eligible candidates in the session 2017-18 who have passed out 10+2 Examination from a science stream.

Eligibility for JNU UG and PG Admission 2017

For B.A. (Hons.): 1st Year.
  • Senior School Certificate (10+2) or equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks. OR Certificates issued by Madrasas mentioned in the Prospectus with at least 45% marks.
For B.A. (Hons.): 2nd Year in German.
  • The first year of Bachelor’s degree or an examination recognized as equivalent there to with at least 50% marks under 10+2+3 pattern of education with adequate proficiency in German.
For B.A. (Hons.): 2nd Year other than German.
  • The first year of Bachelor’s degree or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with at least 45% marks under 10+2+3 pattern of education with adequate proficiency in the concerned language.
Eligibility for SC/ST: The SC/ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) Candidates. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination irrespective of their percentage of marks are eligible to appear in the Entrance Examination.

Application form & Admit Card for JNU UG and PG Admission 2017

Candidates can apply online or through offline mode for JNU Entrance Exam 2017. Online Application
  • The Online application for JNU Entrance Exam 2017 will begin in February 2017.Candidates can apply via the official website and pay the application fee online. The online Application Process will end on last week of March 2017.
  • Candidates are required to send the printed copy of application form to the address given below and should reach JNU by the due date.
Offline Application Requisition
  • Students can obtain JNU Entrance Exam 2017 Application Form and Prospectus through Registered Post or Speed Post by sending crossed Bank Draft for Rs. 300 drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi.
    • Last date for issue of offline Application Forms (by Post) second week of March 2017.
    • Candidates from Nepal: Candidates seeking a set of Application Form and Prospectus from Nepal are required to send a Demand Draft of Rs.400 or equivalent in US Dollars.
  • The Candidate also has to send a self-addressed (unstamped) envelope of the minimum size of 30 cms x 25 cms. clearly indicating the programme of study  for which the Application Form and write Category A is required on the self-addressed envelope to:

Result & Counseling for JNU UG and PG Admission 2017

  • Students will be judged on the basis of their general aptitude and language.
  • After the entrance exam, a cut-off list will be released and all students within the cut-off can apply for admissions.

Exam Pattern for B.A. (Hons.) 1st Year
  • The questions in the paper will be of objective type within the broad framework of General Knowledge, General English and elementary knowledge of the culture and civilisation of the language/country concerned and aptitude for language skills.
Exam Pattern for B.A. (Hons.) 2nd Year
Question paper for the entrance examination will be set in respective foreign language and answers also are to be given in that foreign language
  • Candidate should have adequate proficiency in spoken and written language concerned.
  • Candidates should also have basic Knowledge of applied grammar.
  • Candidates should know simple translation from the language concerned into English and vice-versa.
  • Candidate should be familiarised with the culture and civilisation of the country concerned.
 

Important Details for JNU UG and PG Admission 2017

Reservation of B.A. Seats in JNU
  • SC/ST: Up to 22.5 per cent (15% for SC and 7.5% for ST) of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively.
  • Physically Challenged: 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped).
  • OBCs– 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non-creamy layer).
